Initiatives Archive: Early Literacy Computer Grant

The Williamson County Library Foundation received a $9,600 grant from the Middle Tennessee Electric (MTE) Membership Corporation through the MTE Customers Care program, which is intended to support projects that benefit communities in their service area.

Grant Implementation

The Library Foundation has supplemented this grant and has purchased a total of five AWE Computers for the library system. Four Preschool Computers were purchased for the branch libraries and an After School Edge Computer was purchased for the Williamson County Library's Children's Department. The computers, which are aligned to state educational standards, offer a safe, self-contained learning environment not tied to the Internet. The After School Edge is designed for use with elementary school children ages 6 to 12 for exploration, remediation, enrichment and homework assistance.
