CoreCivic Foundation

The CoreCivic Foundation is a title sponsor of the 2021 Summer Reading Program.

The CoreCivic Foundation supports organizations that provide assistance and resources to returning citizens, victims of crime and underserved youth. The giving mission ties back to CoreCivic's broader mission to better the public good by keeping communities safe, offering evidence-based reentry programs for those in our care and developing state-of-the-art properties that maximize safety and foster meaningful change.

CoreCivic is a presenting sponsor of the 2021 Summer Reading Program, and Bethany Davis, Senior Director for Corporate Communications and the CoreCivic Foundation shared more about what this partnership means to the organization.

How has reading impacted you?

Reading is a significant part of my life and has impacted me in so many ways. Most importantly, it allows me to walk in someone else's shoes for a time so I can better understand their unique experiences. On a professional level, reading fosters stronger written and verbal communication skills that are so vital across all fields.

Why is it important for your company to support the local community?

The CoreCivic Foundation consistently gives back to organizations like the Williamson County Library Foundation because we believe some of the most meaningful work happens at the local level, and that education and access to information is crucial for the success of all.

What motivates your company to support the Williamson County Library?

Fostering a love of learning and education is a key part of the giving mission of the CoreCivic Foundation. Opening doorways through education and reading helps individuals discover pathways to opportunities. The Williamson County Library Foundation connects people to these pathways, and that is a very important and noble mission.

What is your favorite book?

I don't think I could name a single book, but I love the classics…anything by Jane Austen, Charles Dickens or John Hemingway. From the more contemporary files, I enjoy Dan Brown fiction and Jon Acuff's collection is a must-read for professionals.
